Out with the old, in with the new…

How are all you fine people doing this evening? I hope you had an amazing holiday. We had a pretty low key Christmas around the Michelau household. Both sides of our family decided that early celebrations would work better for us and to be honest it was nice to be done before the big rush happened. Unfortunately, my daughter was sick for a full two weeks which made for a pretty tired and grumpy girl. Thankfully, she’s on the mend and returning to her easy going and fun loving self.

So, are you guys counting down the days until 2016 hits the dusty trail? Because we definitely are in my household. Fingers crossed 2017 doesn’t hit us like the freight train 2016 was.

So, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve last posted here but honestly it’s been a pretty slow few months. Nothing too exciting has been happening on the author front but with the new year rolling in, I’m determined to double down on my writing.

I’m not a fan of making New Years Resolutions but I feel like my quarterly goals are a perfect way to keep me motivated.

So, without further ado… here is my last massively failed round of goals.

  1. Complete 10 Harry Potter Project of Doom Blocks (Minimum)
  2. Set up author talk in Camrose
  3. Finish cleaning and setting up workout room
  4. Make book posters
  5. Write another 15K words on Unbearable (total 30K)
  6. Mortgage renewal
  7. Winterize trailer
  8. Clean up yard before winter
  9. Declutter around wood stove
  10. Outline novella (Izek)
  11. Organize and file documents
  12. Declutter office closet
  13. Purge V’s toys
  14. Set up Xmas decorations
  15. Finish sewing minky blankets
  16. Purge kitchen and pantry cupboards
  17. Deep clean kitchen
  18. Reorganize filing cabinet
  19. Make vet appointments for Fat Cat and Shesh
  20. Hang art in office.
  21. Participate in NaNoWriMo

6/21…So honestly I could definitely done much better, like they always say, you win some, you lose some. I’m not going to make any excuses, just accept it and move on.

** But I’d like to add that I did get a bunch of canning done and my husband and I put new flooring in our porch. So it wasn’t a complete loss if I add that. **

Quarterly Goals (Jan-Feb-Mar)

  1. Write another 15K words on Unbearable (total 30K)
  2. Complete 5 Harry Potter quilt blocks
  3. Finish cleaning and setting up workout room
  4. Outline novella (Izek)
  5. Put away Christmas decorations
  6. Clean barn
  7. Organize paperwork
  8. Hang art in office
  9. Market book related content at least 3 times a week
  10. Add books to Kobo, iTunes, B&N
  11. Contact Vic about cover art and editing
  12. Find advertising
  13. Plan garden

So for this round I decided to take it easy with the amount of items I listed. I wanted to make sure I caught up and finished as many as possible. How do you stay focused and on track with your goals?

So what are you guys looking forward to the most in the new year? Are you planning a trip? New job? Moving?

Anyways, I will end this post by wishing you all the best in the new year and I will begin posting regularly again come January.

If you’re interested in checking out either of my books my buy links are below.

Echo has always been told she’s an anomaly, a fluke. She’s the only bear of her kind and that makes her a hindrance to her clan. She’s tried to run away, but they keep her tethered through guilt and a shock collar around her neck.

And then someone shows up claiming he’s her mate.
Now belonging to a new clan, will she ever be able to understand that she’s so much more than just a burden?

One look is all it takes, but there is so much more to being a mated couple than facing the claim. Martha is not ready to give up anything in her life, not even to make room for him. Rev is ready, but only as long as his female bends her life to fit into his. Pushing and pulling, each one will have to decide which is more important—the life they’ve built, or the one they could have together.

Lila Felix is full of antics
and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take
a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle
school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University
because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now
her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in
Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of
course, her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall
extraordinarily in wild, true love.

Where to find her:

Guest Post: A Wallflower’s Christmas Kiss

Have you ever dreamed of a Christmas wedding?

Spinsterhood has never looked so good, but unfortunately even that won’t save Lady Juliette Brooks. Her father’s arranged a betrothal for her to a brute of a man. She has one choice left—force the Duke of Kissinger to honor a long ago promise to save her.

Grayson Abbot, the Duke of Kissinger, does not want to marry Lady Juliette. He doesn’t want to marry anyone. But he did make her a promise, and he doesn’t go back on his word… So he reluctantly agrees to run away with her.

They set off on an adventure during the Christmastide season. As they race to Scotland they experience delays, cold weather, and a friendship they’d almost forgotten about. Will Juliette finally find out what it’s like to be kissed, and in return, win the duke’s heart?

Grayson sighed. She wasn’t going to be denied anything apparently. It was too late to save her from herself. Very well, he’d deal with her and then send her on her way. He turned and sucked in a breath momentarily stunned. A silhouette of pure beauty greeted him. Her midnight tresses were wound up and bound neatly into an elegant chignon. His fingers itched to unwind it and see it flow over her luscious curves. All of this and he’d still not seen her face. When she finally turned to meet his gaze he lost all ability to breathe. Those sea-green eyes kept him riveted in place. He should stand and greet her but his body refused to function. She was the last person he expected or wanted to enter his home.

“What no words?” She raised an eyebrow. “And I thought you were noted as the witty duke amongst the ton. I must say I’m rather disappointed.”

Grayson drank in the sight of her. He wanted to remember her as she stood before him for the rest of his days. She was glorious, proud, and fearless. “Didn’t your father teach you better than to enter the lion’s den?” He lifted a brow mockingly. “You could very well get eaten alive.”

Her lips tilted at the corner. “I rather like my chances.” She moved further into the room. “After all I tamed a lion before.”

“There’s a difference between a young cub, and a full grown male, Jules,” he explained. “One is more docile and willing to cuddle. The adult wants to be petted—in other ways.” He stood up and gazed directly into her eyes. “A bite can be pleasurable or….” Grayson crossed over to her side and leaned down, whispering in her ear, “painful depending on your preference.”

Juliette took a deep breath but remained where she stood. He’d give her that much. She’d always been a stubborn girl, and apparently she’d not grown out of that trait. If she didn’t take a step back soon he’d be forced to make a choice. Either he pulled her into his arms and kissed her the way he craved or he put distance between them respecting her innocence. It was a hard decision and warred deep inside him, but he did what was best for her. Turned out that some things were ingrained. Protecting her had always been his first instinct.

“If you’re done trying to intimidate me I have something I wish to discuss with you.”

Title: Creed: A Blood Riders MC Novel (Book #3)

Author: Tia Lewis

Genre: Motorcycle Romance

Release Date: November 14th, 2016

She puts me through hell… but there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.

I thought Tamara and I had something special. I know we did. But then she up and left me. Didn’t leave a note. Nothing.

One day I’m gripping onto her lush curves and hearing my name spill from those pouty lips of hers. And then she’s gone.

The hell of it is, I don’t care. Other women aren’t an option. I want her. I need her. She’s still mine, and I’m claiming her no matter what.

I’ll drag her ass back here kicking and screaming. When I’m done with her, she’ll know who she belongs to.

My only rule: Never hook up with an MC rider.

I’ve been around the Blood Riders MC my whole life. My father was a member. After the heartache he handed my mother, I promised myself I deserved better.

Then came Creed. With his broad shoulders and rippling muscles, he won me over before I even knew what was happening. The things he makes me feel almost
make me believe in forever. But I can’t.

And now I’m f*cked.

I knew better to put myself in this position, but I caved to his touch, and now I’m carrying his baby. I won’t let this child lead the sh*t life I had.

I have to protect our child. Creed can never know; even if it tears my heart in two.

Creed is book three of the Blood Riders MC series with no cheating and a guaranteed happy ending. This book is a full-length motorcycle romance novel
that’s intended for mature audiences only. Reader discretion is advised.

Guest Post: How to Kiss a Rogue by Amanda Mariel

How to Kiss a Rogue (book two Connected by a Kiss)

Amanda Mariel

Release Date: November 1, 2016

Length: 24k/novella

Heat Rating: 2

Genre: Historical Romance, Regency

Long Blurb:

A misunderstanding that wounds the bonds of friendship leads a lady to find the love of her life.

Lady Natalie’s betrothal is ended and frees her to pursue the man of her dreams. During a holiday party she discovers the lord she desires in attendance. So hatches a plan to snare him.

Lord Christian St. Vella the Marquis of Knightly has no desire to marry. The more Lady Natalie chases the more irritated he becomes. As the party progresses he cannot help but see past her shallow exterior and recognizes a lady he could fall for.

Will they come together to share a unforgettable Christmastide?

Glancing from behind the fern, her stomach dropped. “Bradford,”—She came out into the open—“What are you doing here?”

“Knightly asked me to come in first.”

She released a breath she hadn’t known she had been holding. Christian was here. “You cannot stay.”

“I must. It would be highly improper to leave you unchaperoned with a man we are not related to.” Bradford smirked, shoving his hands in his pockets.

Natalie stepped up to him, placed her hands on his shoulders, and began pushing him toward the door. “Nothing untoward will happen as long as you leave now.”

Oh, why had she failed to think of a chaperone? Now Bradford had his nose squarely in the center of her scheme and he’d surely ruin everything.

A mischievous twinkle lit his eyes and he chuckled. “Nothing untoward will occur at any rate. Knightly has no wish to ruin you.”

Natalie’s face warmed and she gave another shove. “Mind your own affairs.”

“Perhaps I should tell Mother what you are about.”

“You would not dare! You cannot. Imagine what she would do, Bradford.” Natalie dropped her hands from his shoulders and gave him her best pouty look. “What do you think I am about? You act as though I am some sully maid,” She peered at him, her blood heated with angry indignation. How dare he think she was going about, carrying on trysting with men? No matter it was exactly her intended purpose…he should not assume such from her.

“Do calm yourself. Getting your skirts in a knot will change nothing.” Bradford shook his head. “We both know what you are doing here.”

She closed her eyes for a heartbeat. He was correct, she could no more lie to him than she could herself. “I beg of you, do not say a word to anyone.”

“You are quite entertaining.” He chuckled while he walked toward the door. “I will be directly outside should Knightly require my assistance.”

“You may well be the one in need.” Natalie reached for a nearby pot and flung it toward him. The projectile missed him, crashing into the floor. “You are not entertaining in the least.”

“You had better clean that mess up or Mother is certain to discover what you’ve been getting up to without my having to tell her.” His deep chuckle only increased in volume as he disappeared from the greenhouse.

She ought to have known he was teasing her. He no more wished for their parents to know his friend was secretly meeting her than she did. In retrospect, bringing Bradford along was a good plan on Christian’s part. As much as it pained her to admit it, he would ensure no one caught them alone together. Natalie released a sigh, then smoothed her skirts before Christian entered. Her heart pounded—this was her chance.

She stood still with one hip cocked to the left as he stepped into the greenhouse and approached her. “Lord Knightly, I am pleased you came.”

“You should be equally pleased that your brother was the only one to notice your note. Are you trying to get ruined?”

She swallowed at the harshness of his tone. “On the contrary, that is why I told you not to show it to anyone. Though I must confess, I am pleased Bradford came along. He will make an excellent look out.” She did her best to offer a charming smile despite her sudden nerves.

“And why would we need someone to watch out for us?” Christian leveled his penetrating stare on her.

She reached out a trembling hand and trailed the tips of her fingers across his strong jaw. Even through her gloves she felt his warmth seeping into her—imprinting on her soul. “I want a kiss. One more passionate than the one you bestowed on Lady Pippa.”

NaNoWriMo 2016

Goodbye October. Hello November!

I hope everyone had a fun and spooky Halloween. My daughter dressed up as one of her favourite things…A ghostbuster! She’s obsessed and I was pretty excited to make her the costume this year.

What were your little munchkin’s dressed up as this year?

As many fellow writers know, November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and with that comes the challenge of writing 50 000 words by the end of the month. This will be my 4th time participating and I plan on “hopefully” meeting that goal. I’m going to be working on the third Keystone Novel, Unbearable. I know…they prefer you to start a new novel but this will give me the push I need to finish this book. If I write another 50K words I will officially be done the first draft! How great would that be?

If you are participating in NaNoWriMo and would like to add me as a writing buddy my username is MeganM916.

Well, that’s all I have for now but wish me luck on this months challenge! I’m gonna need it!
